The Opportunity

As the Lead, you need to be a highly experienced engineer within secondary systems as you will be providing technical leadership and guidance on the Secondary Design scope for detailed design across a broad range of projects including connections of generators (renewables and conventional), battery energy storage systems, major loads as well as replacement of existing infrastructure to ensure the network remains reliable.

Your role will also include developing/maintaining design tools, quality assurance checklist/processes as well as mentoring other team members in the discipline of Secondary Design.

You will play a key role in the peer review and approval of Secondary Design engineering deliverables and may also be the SME on selected projects. You will also be providing technical leadership and guidance on other aspects of Secondary Design project delivery from scope and specifications, design review and commissioning witnessing.  

About You

Heres what were looking for in our technical Lead:

  • A seasoned and qualified Secondary Engineer, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience within the energy and utilities industry, with some of those years spent within the local Australia or New Zealand market.
  • Willing to relocate interstate or intercountry to be based in Adelaide, South Australia.
  • Possess strong understanding of secondary design principles, HV power system protection schemes, substation automation systems and infrastructure engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of power system fundamentals and fault analysis, and secondary systems circuitry design & principles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of protection system construction and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of DNP3 and IEC substation network communication standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of legislated industry requirements (National Electricity Rules, ESCOSA, AEMO Guidelines, Safety in Design, etc).
  • Able to produce protection device (IED) settings and configuration files.
  • Familiar with Secondary Systems Software (GE, Micom, SEL, Siemens, Eberle, Schneider, etc).
